A’Sharee is a proud Black woman, educator, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) dedicated to empowering BIPOC communities through mental health advocacy, education, and systemic change. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, she grew up in a communities impacted by violence, without access to culturally affirming supports, she was left to navigate these challenges on her own. It wasn’t until she found a supportive community that truly invested in her that her path began to shift. This experience highlighted the need for alternatives for youth and families—spaces where they feel safe, valued, and empowered.
She earned her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in African American Studies from California State University, San Bernardino, and went on to obtain her M.S. in Counseling (Marriage, Family, and Child) with an Emphasis in College Counseling from San Francisco State University. With over eight years of experience, her work has ranged from supporting youth in foster care, within early childhood mental health, working with unhoused individuals navigating comorbidities, to providing crisis intervention for highly acute youth and adults experiencing suicidal ideation and psychosis, across nonprofits, hospitals, and correctional facilities. A'Sharee finds passion in supporting individuals facing systemic barriers, mental health challenges, and community violence.
Currently, she manages culturally inclusive mental health programming, ensuring that minoritized individuals receive equitable care, resources, and stability in an empathic and empowering way. Beyond clinical work, A’Sharee is a passionate educator who has spent the past five years teaching psychology and counseling at College of Alameda (COA) and SFSU Graduate Studies, teaching courses in Introductory Psychology, Childhood Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Diagnoses and Counseling Practicum. She developed and designed the curriculum for a course newly offered at COA, Psychology of Liberation: Black/African American Psychology. She believes in integrating culturally responsive frameworks to explore the intersections of psychology, identity, and systemic oppression. She also believes in fostering radical healing in the classroom—helping students apply psychological tools to increase self-awareness, empowerment, and personal growth. She is deeply committed to diversifying the field of psychology and counseling and guiding students toward their educational and career aspirations.
As the Founder of A Radical Change (ARC), this is her heart work. A’Sharee is driven by her own lived experiences and a commitment to community, accessibility, and empowerment. She envisions growing ARC beyond the organization it is today into a lasting force for change in underserved communities. Her goal is to build an organization that not only provides immediate resources but creates long-term impact and shifts systems of inequity. Her vision is to ensure that youth and families have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive—because transformation happens together.
